Dear friend,
Retired teachers are a wonderful resource of dedicated volunteers!
We are looking for eager individuals who may consider training as
a volunteer with Telecare Peterborough, a non-profit confidential
distress centre.
Telecare is ramping up for our next training session in March, 2009.
VOLUNTEER WITH TELECARE
Spring training begins SOON!
Saturday March 7, 2009 at 9:30 am
Downstairs, CMHA office
466 George St. N.
50 hours of interactive sessions, $50.00(subsidy
available)
Sat. mornings and Tues. evenings from March 7 to May 2 (9 weeks)
We provide you with skills and knowledge that you can use:
• to respond to calls from people in need
• in the workplace, in your day-to-day job
• in your everyday personal life
• in your community
What you will receive:
• expert-driven training
• "active listening" skills-for effectively listening
and responding to others
• resources for referring callers to other agencies
• greater self-awareness
Volunteers are asked to:
• be age 18 or over, and emotionally mature
• complete training prior to taking calls
• volunteer one four-hour shift, every two weeks
• attend monthly educational meetings
• listen with care and understanding, without judgment
Help others find renewed courage to cope through life's
many challenges.
